April 23rd, I remember it well! It was the last sunny spring day before 2 straight weeks (so far) of rain have set in. I arrive home to a newborn cria, already up and mostly dry. I scoop the cria up and off to the nursery we go with mama right on my heels. I do the towel thing, the blow dryer thing, spray the navel and check the sex. Omigosh!!!! It's a girl. Phone torn out of pocket, call the husband, great start to the birthing season!

Great name of Chick a Dee is decided upon, and all is as it should be until that fateful next few days of rain. Mama decided that she would enjoy the rare Pocatello downpour, and of course, little Chick a Dee gets a drenching. Can't let her go into the night like that, so once again, I scoop up the cria and off to the nursery we go. I do the towel thing, the blow dryer thing and check the navel just out of habit. And that's when it happened; My beautiful little girl had something no little girl should have; yes folks, she had an appendage. Now where did that come from? Why didn't I see that two days ago? Phone is taken slowly from the pocket, call the husband, husband laughs out loud. "Should we name her Chick a Don't? he wants to know... So now, ten full days later, we still have no name for 'him,' and it is still raining! It will be years before I live this one down...
